Le Centre allemand d’histoire de l’art Paris (DFK Paris) et l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) attribuent conjointement une bourse d’un an à partir du 1er septembre 2026.

À l’occasion du bicentenaire des premières expérimentations photographiques de Nicéphore Niépce vers 1826-1827, ce programme vise à soutenir des travaux scientifiques proposant des axes de recherche innovants et ouvrant de nouvelles perspectives pour l’histoire de la photographie, sa diffusion et ses évolutions historiques, techniques, esthétiques et formelles.

Sont encouragées des approches transculturelles et interdisciplinaires, notamment à travers des perspectives comparatives ou centrées sur des questions épistémologiques, méthodologiques ou historiographiques. Les recherches portant sur les enjeux de spoliation, de pillage, d’appropriation, de provenance ou de circulation des images pourront également être envisagées.

Les projets nécessitant un séjour de recherche à Paris seront privilégiés.

Les lauréates et lauréats devront résider principalement à Paris et travailler en contact étroit et en dialogue avec les deux institutions partenaires.

Ils mèneront leur recherche pendant six mois au Centre allemand d’histoire de l’art Paris (DFK Paris), à partir de septembre 2026, puis six mois à l’Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA), à partir de mars 2027. Ce programme leur offrira ainsi un contexte de travail stimulant, facilitant l’accès aux archives et les échanges avec des spécialistes venus de différents pays.

Conditions de la bourse

Le montant de la bourse s’élève sur 12 mois à 1 750 euros par mois (plus un défraiement mensuel de 250 euros et, le cas échéant, une allocation pour enfant). Les bénéficiaires sont accueillis en tant que chercheuse ou chercheur pour six mois au DFK Paris et pour six mois à l’INHA. De plus, la bourse comprend l’attribution d’un espace de travail ainsi que l’utilisation des ressources et de l’infrastructure des deux institutions.

Les candidatures pour la sélection 2026-2027 doivent être déposées au plus tard le 15 mai 2026.

Seules les candidatures envoyées par ce biais seront prises en compte dans la procédure de sélection. Le comité de sélection, composé de Marion Boudon-Machuel, Julia Drost, Dominique de Font-Réaulx, Peter Geimer et Alexandre Girard-Muscagorry, se réunira le 2 juin 2026 afin d’examiner les candidatures. Les résultats seront communiqués aux candidates et candidats dans le courant du mois de juin.

Dossier de candidature

Le dossier peut être rédigé en allemand, en français ou en anglais. Veuillez utiliser le formulaire français ou allemand pour les candidatures en anglais. Le dossier doit inclure :

• une lettre de motivation adressée à Peter Geimer, directeur du Centre allemand d’histoire de l’art de Paris (DFK Paris) et à Marion Boudon-Machuel, directrice du département des études et de la recherche de l’INHA ;
• un CV ;

Das Deutsche Forum für Kunstgeschichte Paris (DFK Paris) und das Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) vergeben zum 1. September 2026 gemeinsam ein einjähriges Stipendium.

Beschreibung

Anlässlich des zweihundertjährigen Jubiläums der ersten fotografischen Experimente von Nicéphore Niépce um 1826–1827 zielt dieses Programm darauf ab, wissenschaftliche Arbeiten mit innovativen Forschungsansätzen zu unterstützen, die der Geschichte der Fotografie neue Perspektiven erschließen. Die geförderten Projekte können sich mit Fragen zur Verbreitung der Fotografie sowie zu ihren historischen, technischen, ästhetischen und formalen Entwicklungen befassen.

Besonders erwünscht sind transkulturelle und interdisziplinäre Ansätze, etwa durch vergleichende Perspektiven oder solche, die sich auf epistemologische, methodologische oder historiografische Aspekte konzentrieren. Themen zur Enteignung, Plünderung, Aneignung, Provenienz oder Zirkulation von Bildern können ebenfalls Gegenstand der Forschung sein.

Bewerbungen mit einem erforderlichen Aufenthalt in Paris werden bevorzugt behandelt.

Bedingung ist, dass die/der ausgewählte Kandidat:in während des Förderzeitraums im engen Kontakt und Austausch mit dem DFK Paris und dem INHA steht und sich überwiegend in Paris aufhält.

Die Stipendiat:innen forschen jeweils sechs Monate am Deutschen Forum für Kunstgeschichte Paris (DFK Paris) ab September 2026 und am Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) ab März 2027. Die ausgewählten Stipendiat:innen erwartet ein anregendes Arbeitsumfeld, das ihnen auch den Zugang zu den Archiven und den Austausch mit internationalen Expert/-innen erleichtern soll.

Das Stipendium richtet sich an herausragende Wissenschaftler:innen der Kunstgeschichte aus Frankreich, Deutschland und dem internationalen Ausland, die am Anfang ihrer Karriere stehen (Doktorand:innen und Postdoktorand:innen).

Förderung

Der Umfang des Stipendiums beträgt monatlich 1.750 Euro (zuzüglich eines monatlichen pauschalen Sachkostenzuschusses von 250 Euro sowie ggf. einer Kinderzulage) für die Dauer von 12 Monaten. Die/der ausgewählte Kandidat:in wird jeweils für sechs Monate am DFK Paris und am INHA als Wissenschaftler:in gefördert. Das Stipendium beinhaltet ferner die Bereitstellung eines Arbeitsplatzes sowie die Nutzung der infrastrukturellen Ressourcen beider Institute.

Bewerbungen für das Auswahlverfahren 2026–2027 müssen bis zum 15. Mai 2026 eingereicht werden.

Nur auf diesem Wege eingereichte Bewerbungen können im Auswahlverfahren berücksichtigt werden. Die Auswahlkommission, bestehend aus Marion Boudon-Machuel, Julia Drost, Dominique de Font-Réaulx, Peter Geimer und Alexandre Girard-Muscagorry, kommt am 2. Juni 2026 zusammen. Die Auswahl wird den Bewerberinnen und Bewerbern im Laufe des Monats Juni bekanntgegeben.

Research Fellowship DFK Paris | INHA

The German Center for Art History Paris (DFK Paris) and the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA) jointly offer a one-year fellowship, effective 1 September 2026.

To mark the bicentennial of Nicéphore Niépce’s first photographic experiments around 1826–1827, this program aims to support scholarly work that proposes innovative research directions and opens up new perspectives on the history of photography, its dissemination, and its historical, technical, aesthetic, and formal developments.

Transcultural and interdisciplinary approaches are encouraged, particularly those that adopt comparative perspectives or focus on epistemological, methodological, or historiographical issues. Research addressing issues of spoliation, looting, appropriation, provenance, or the circulation of images may also be considered. Not only should the theme and methodology of the project connect to the operative research orientations of each institute, but the fellow’s presence in Paris must also be necessary to the execution of the work. It is a condition of the fellowship that the selected candidate remains in close contact and exchange with both institutes during the funding period and resides predominantly in Paris.

The fellow conducts research for six months at the DFK Paris (starting in September 2026) and six months at the INHA (from March 2027 onwards). The selected candidate can expect a stimulating working environment that will facilitate both archival access and the exchange of ideas with international experts.

Applications requiring a stay in Paris will be given preference.

The fellowship is intended for outstanding art historians from France, Germany, or abroad who are at the beginning of their careers (doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers).

The stipend

The amount of the fellowship is 1,750 euros per month for a period of 12 months (plus a monthly flat-rate allowance of 250 euros for material costs and, if applicable, a child supplement). The recipient will be funded as a scholar for six months at the DFK Paris and six months at the INHA. The award also includes a workspace and use of the infrastructural resources of both institutes.

Applications for the 2026-2027 cycle must be submitted on our portal no later than May 15, 2026.

Only applications received via this portal will be considered in the selection process. The selection committee, consisting of Peter Geimer, Julia Drost, Anne-Solène Rolland, Marion Boudon-Machuel and Dominique de Font-Réaulx meets once a year, next selection in June 2026.
